A Pleasantly Corrupted Mind

I shouldn’t even have to say more, really. However, i have a big mouth, so indulge me.

So this week in Naruto, we see the effects of the Edo Tensei wearing off. The Mizukage not surprisingly is seeing the end of the line for herself and the other Kage:

We then see Trolldara realizing that something is going on, noticing that he’s lighting up like the 4th of July. Oh, how i would love to see a rape face on him before he goes. Peace out buddy.

Then we get taken to Itachi who is gradually turning into confetti and Sasuke, in which Itachi finally reveals the truth to him. Via his lone Sharingan eye, he shows Sasuke the conversation he had with Shisui and how he got his eye yuck. Then we saw the meeting Itachi had with Danzou, the Third, and the Elders, where it was clearly revealed that Danzou was truly the master mind behind enforcing the Uchiha’s massacre, and that the Third was willing to talk-no-jutsu it out. We even saw how Danzou entrapped Itachi, forcing him to make a choice.

It then continues on with Itachi’s convo with Masked Man/Tobidara, and the heart-wrenching act of the killing of Itachi’s parents through Itachi’s own eyes.

Jesus, Kishi. We knew Itachi had suffered before, but now i think everyone can better understand the sheer agony he must’ve gone through. Anyway, Itachi then proceeds to tell Sasuke how he wanted to keep Sasuke away from the conflict, but that in doing so, he miscalculated, basically. He realizes that he should’ve attempted to have explained everything to Sasuke from the start DUH. He then says the following as he finally reaches Sasuke with his arm and affectionately grasps his head:

Tears, water-works, you name it. I actually did tear up seeing that last panel after the impact hit me. For once, we got a clear and concise act that cannot be misinterpreted or confused. No trolling, no silly poke in the forehead.

What, i love is Sasuke’s and Itachi’s expression. Itachi’s face is clearly loving, whereas Sasuke clearly was not expecting the gesture. The words will no doubt have a profound effect on him, and Sasuke will become ever more conflicted. But he truly needed to hear those words. There is still a child in him, and that child needed a fucking hug, and he got something even more precious: verbal confirmation.

Anyway, this chapter is one to be remembered, and i think it’s one that truly stands out within this series. Itachi, i <3 you longtime.
